Good health and well being using essential oils
Essential oils are extracted from aromatic plants. The most common method to extract essentail oils from plants is distillation. These essential oils are made of components with specific molecular structure and contain no protein, lipids, minerals vitamins nor sugars.
Used pure or diluted, essential oils restore good health and balance both mentally and physically thanks to their unique therapeutic virtues. In other words, essential oils are beneficial in regulating common health problems as well as in trying to achieve general well being.
Aromatherapy designates a holistic treatment using essential oils. This method is both effective for health purposes and for general well being. Depending on the essential oils used, aromatherapy will promote good health, stimulate, regenerate, enhance well being or relax.
Aromatherapy comes from the Greek "aroma" (which mean odor) and "therapia" (which means care). The origins of aromatherapy are found in ancient China, Rome, India, Greece. Hippocrates himself used this form of medicine.
There are various ways to use essential oils:
Some oils can be absorbed in the following way: a few drops of pure essential oil on a sugar for example, or diluted in water.
Others can be applied directly on the skin, by mixing them with a vegetable oil base. For example in friction, massage or compress, or in your bath.
Lastly, some essential oils can be diffused in the air or poured into a cup, on a piece of fabric. They create a feeling of well being in your house because they purify the atmosphere of the rooms.

The use of essential oils both for well being and good health is related to the biochemical composition and the therapeutic properties of each oil.
It is important to strictly respect the use and amount recommended for each essential oil. Also make sure that the technique chosen is appropriate for the essential oils that you wish to use. Indeed, some oils should be used in a bath whereas others are better mixed with a base oil for a massage. Before using essential oils with children, check their biochemical family as some are not appropriate for children of less than 6 years.
